Man City, Arsenal Close Gap on Liverpool with Wins

Manchester City moved to within a solitary point of the Premier League summit after edging past Fulham 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium, equalling their club-record longest unbeaten run of 30 matches.

Mateo Kovacic’s double cancelled out Andreas Pereira’s opener, before Jeremy Doku’s sublime individual strike gave Pep Guardiola’s side a two-goal cushion.

However, Rodrigo Muniz set up a nervy finale for the reigning champions by rifling the ball home from close range, only for City to hold on and secure a 17th consecutive victory over Fulham across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Arsenal narrowed the gap to just a point behind leaders Liverpool after edging past Southampton 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

Cameron Archer stunned the north London outfit with a brilliant 55th-minute opener for the Saints, capitalising on Mateus Fernandes’s dispossession of Raheem Sterling.

The Gunners equalised when Kai Havertz punished a defensive blunder by Flynn Downes, before Gabriel Martinelli sealed all three points with a close-range finish from Bukayo Saka’s cross.

Saka then turned provider to goalscorer with a fine effort, adding gloss to the scoreline.
